2007 – Winner of “The Bob McWhorter Award” for outstanding work in storytelling, awarded by the West Virginia Storytelling Guild.

1999 -“Echoes Through the Coalfields” Contest,  Winner: Mama and the Mountain Women, a storytelling troupe founded and led by Suzi

1998 – Mama and the Mountain Women were chosen National Storytelling Champions during the Storytellers’ Celebration in Hillsboro, Ohio.
